South Africa translocates 12 cheetah to India in a cooperation agreement, 17 February 2023

This is part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by both countries which facilitates cooperation to establish a viable and secure cheetah population in India and to promote conservation and community involvement in conservation efforts in the two countries.

The DFFE's Green Scorpions Mr Wiseman Rikhotso and Mr Thulasizwe Ndlovu check microchips and permit verifications to ensure their translocation is in line with IUCN guidelines for reintroductions and in accordance with international veterinary standards and protocols.

High Commissioner of India: HE Mr Jaideep Sarkar together with the Indian delegation have arrived at OR Tambo International Airport and prepare to load the Galaxy Globemaster C17 transport from the Indian Air Force which will be transporting the cheetahs
