Department to host Environmental Careers Day and Coastal Clean Up in the Overberg

The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms Barbara Creecy, will be hosting an Environmental Careers Day on Saturday,11 September 2021 in Gansbaai, Overberg District, Western Cape.
The department will have exhibition stands focusing on environmental careers and have young DFFE staff members give talks about their own career journeys to motivate learners.
Minister Creecy will also lead a coastal clean-up on Sunday, 12 September 2021, in Kleinmond, Western Cape. This is the lead up to the start of the Clean-up and Recycle SA Week, which concludes with the observation of the International Coastal Clean-up Day during the third Saturday of September.
The Clean-up and Recycle Week SA initiative is intended to encourage communities to keep their environment clean and divert their waste away from the landfill sites through, recycling, reusing, repurposing of their waste materials. The Minister will be joined in the programme by community leaders, volunteers, and NGOs.
