Minister Barbara Creecy to join Nelson Mandela Day Commemoration in Athlone, Cape Town

The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Barbara Creecy will join the World Wide Fund for Nature and the Cape Town Environment Education Trust (CTEET) for a Nelson Mandela Commemoration event in Athlone, Cape Town, tomorrow, 18 July 2019. 

The day’s activities will include a land based waste clean-up, river clean-up as well as environmental education sessions for 80 Grade 7 learners from a local school.

In line with the government’s declaration of July as Mandela Month and call on all South Africans to become part of the movement for change in making a difference in the lives of needy fellow citizens. The clean-up and environmental education sessions are aimed at affording the residents of Athlone with an opportunity for a coordinated clean-up of their community.

CTEET is a non-profit organisation which supports the preservation of Cape Town's unique and biodiverse natural heritage through education, training and conservation initiatives.
