Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Barbara Creecy to launch the Antarctica Season

The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Barbara Creecy, will launch the 2019/2020 Antarctica season on Wednesday, 4 December 2019 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
The Antarctic Season launch is hosted by the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) in partnership with the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) and the Norwegian Polar Institute and will commence with exhibitions from 2 December 2019.
This year’s Antarctica Season launch will focus on the importance of Polar work and collaboration between South Africa and the 10 countries that utilise Cape Town as a gateway to Antarctica. Ambassadors and Consulates-General of the various partner countries and key stakeholders will be in attendance.
As part of the launch, seminars on various aspects of Antarctica will be held from 03-05 December 2019 under the theme “Importance and impact of Polar Activities in Your Country” and key stakeholders will be in attendance.
