The Climate Change Adaptation and Gender Mainstreaming Dialogue under theme women adapting to climate change is underway at SANBI in partnership with DWYPD

CD: Dr Gwaza said climate change is not gender neutral, but the DFFE recognises that women are key agents of change. Their local knowledge as key respondents to disaster in communities plays a critical role in responses to climate change.

In rural and peri-urban settings, women and girls rely heavily on agricultural activities including subsistence farming. Unfortunately, this is affected by significant weather changes like poor rainfall or flooding brought on by climate change.
