SA Agulhas II to depart for the annual Antarctica relief voyage

The Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, will bid farewell to the SA Agulhas II, as she departs on her 41st voyage tomorrow, 10 December 2019, to Antarctica.
Aboard the SA Agulhas II, will be South African National Antarctic Expedition (SANAE) 59 team members who will be spending 14 months in Antarctica.
The departure of the ship takes place days after the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Antarctica Treaty by 12 nations. South Africa is one of the 12 original signatories of the Treaty which was signed in December 1959.
