CANCELLED: Minister Nomvula Mokonyane to brief media on extreme weather conditions

The Minister of Environmental Affairs Ms Nomvula Mokonyane and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the South African Weather Service, Mr Mnikeli Ndabambi will brief members of the media on the extreme weather conditions on Friday 03 May 2019.
In the recent weeks, South Africa, specifically the KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces, has experienced extreme weather conditions which resulted in floods that left devastating effects. President Cyril Ramaphosa has since declared a week of mourning for the victims of the recent floods.
Minister Mokonyane will reflect on the government’ research studies on climate change and adaptation thereof. These include the climate risk and vulnerability assessment and the Long Term Adaptation Scenarios (LTAS), a research flagship that provides the climate projection for foreseeable future with the view to guide climate change adaptation planning in the country.
