SA Agulhas returns form Gough Island
04 October 2019
The Department’s SA Agulhas II will be returning from her logistical and scientific voyage from Gough Island, on Monday, 7 October 2019.
Aboard the vessel will be the Gough 64 Expedition team, as well as researchers and scientists from the department and tertiary institutions who were conducting research in the ocean and on the island.
The quality of South African weather forecasts relies heavily on the availability of data inputs gathered there and current data collection from Gough Island exceeds 55 years and is critical for an extremely data sparse region for climate studies and climate change projections.
Members of the media are invited to cover the ceremony as follows:
Date: 7 October 2019
Time: 10:00
Venue: East Pier Quay, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town
